Margate animal adoption center seeks ‘fur-ever’ home for dog left tied to their door A dog was left abandoned and alone outside a South Florida animal adoption center. Employees are now hoping he finds his ‘fur-ever’ home. On May 31, a woman was seen tying him up to the door and driving away on surveillance video in front of the United for Animals adoption center on State Road 7 in Margate, well after closing time and 14 hours before it was to open for business the next day. “A female came out of her car with Edward and tied him to the door,” said Nicoda Hall with the United for Animals Rescue, “And in tying him to the door, she was very aggressive towards Edward. She was shouting, but unfortunately, we could not hear what was being said.”After a few minutes, the dog watched as the woman walked away and drove off. “To see a beloved family member, because we don’t really call them pets, left like that — it breaks your heart,” said Hall. Fortunately for Edward, a staff member had to stop by that night. They n...

Zelenskyy fires Ukraine’s ambassador to the UK KYIV – Volodymyr Zelenskyy has fired Vadym Prystaiko as Ukraine’s ambassador to the United Kingdom, after the envoy criticized the Ukrainian president in public. Zelenskyy’s decree, announcing the dismissal of the ambassador, does not give a reason for his decision. But it comes after Prystaiko criticized Zelenskyy’s punchy response to U.K. Defense Minister Ben Wallace, who suggested that Ukraine should show more gratitude to its allies. Speaking to reporters at the NATO summit in Vilnius earlier this month, Wallace said that the U.S. is heading for a presidential election next year, and lawmakers from countries making big military donations to Kyiv could face a political problem if they are met with Ukrainian anger. There is concern across much of Europe that NATO-skeptic Donald Trump could return as U.S. president.Zelenskyy responded with an ironic remark during the press briefing in Vilnius, saying he does not understand how much more he should express his thanks, in r...

Thousands of Muslims take to the streets to express outrage over Quran desecration in Sweden BAGHDAD (AP) — Thousands of people took to the streets in a handful of Muslim-majority countries Friday to express their outrage at the desecration of a copy of the Quran in Sweden, a day after protesters stormed the country’s embassy in Iraq. The protests in Iraq, Lebanon and Iran that followed weekly prayers were controlled and peaceful, in contrast to scenes in Baghdad on Thursday, when demonstrators occupied the Swedish Embassy compound for several hours and set a small fire. The embassy staff had been evacuated before the storming, and Swedish news agency TT reported that they were relocated to Stockholm for security reasons. For Muslims, any desecration of the Quran, their holy text, is abhorrent.
