170+ bear sightings reported to wildlife department DENVER (KDVR) -- Temperatures are rising, spring is in full bloom and bears are waking up from their long winter naps. That means they're hungry and looking for food. Colorado Parks and Wildlife said it has received 173 reports of bear activity in 25 counties so far this year. Many of the calls are coming from residential areas, as bears are attracted to the smell of food from unsecured trash cans and bird feeders. “Every time a bear gets a treat, a bird feeder, a hummingbird feeder, or trash, it teaches the bear that people mean food,” said Matt Yamashita, CPW’s area wildlife manager for Area 8, which covers Aspen, Glenwood Springs and Eagle and Pitkin counties. “People who think that it’s one time, no big deal, are totally wrong. It is a big deal when you compound that ‘one time’ with how many ‘one-timers’ they get from your neighbors, too. It adds up.” Mountain lion punctures 11-year-old girl’s face CPW said male bears, or boars, awaken first, followed by non-birth-giving femal...

And to have that instead of rocks must feel much better on their feet, so they would be happier.” Maddalena said she wanted to give back to Cape Ann Animal Aid. Last year, she spoke with administrators at the facility to find out how she could help. “When I saw the play yards, I knew right away that I wanted to do that,” Maddalena said. She continued, saying she was told the yards weren’t being used much and that replacing an existing bed of rocks with grass would help. Maddalena wasted no time, reaching out to eight differ...

Boone attributed the decision to the Yankees getting healthier; Harrison Bader and Aaron Judge recently returned from injuries.“With getting some more guys back in the mix, it’s something I considered,” Boone said before insisting that dropping Volpe was not an indictment of the neophyte’s recent at-bat quality. “And [he] could end up back [leading off]. Or, as we get more guys back, [he] could end up at the bottom again. You know how I like him there. But just something I wanted to do today.”Volpe has hit some balls hard lately — including his first-career grand slam on Wednesday ...
