LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (NEWS10) - The spotted lanternfly has climbed the ladder of invasive species of concern in New York. First seen on Staten Island in 2020, the Asia-native insect sees many agricultural products as a banquet - creating a tremendous threat for the northeast. Grapevines, hops, and fruit trees are attractive for the insect, but its favorite is a particular tree - the "tree of heaven," also invasive. This month, Warren County was contacted by a Lake George resident concerned to learn that they have several tree of heaven specimens on their property. "I think it's kind of isolated," said Jim Lieberum of the Warren County Soil & Water Conservation District. "It would be surprising to find spotted lanternfly in the area. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – On Tuesday, Transportation Security Administration officers prevented a Rensselaer County man from carrying a loaded gun onto a flight at the Albany International Airport. ST. LOUIS - Police officers shot a man Wednesday afternoon in north St. Louis.According to Sgt. Charles Wall, a spokesman for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting happened around 2 p.m. in the 4200 block of Linton Avenue, located in the Fairgrounds neighborhood. Multiple people quit within hours at Jennings City Hall Wall said the man who was shot is conscious and breathing. ST. LOUIS - Homicide detectives with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department say the victim and suspect in Tuesday’s fatal shooting in Midtown knew each other.Police identified the victim as Jaylen French of Florissant. French was shot just before 2 p.m. near Lindell Boulevard and Spring Avenue, feet away from the northern edge of St. Louis University’s campus. French was 25.The suspect, identified only as a 19-year-old man, was found shot in the 3700 block of Lindell. The data breach involves a file transfer software called MOVEit, used to share large files between organizations worldwide. The FBI along with local, state, and federal law enforcement partners have recovered multiple victims of sex trafficking, including a 16-year-old girl who was being trafficked by her father in exchange for drugs, in a recent coordinated campaign.Another victim, a minor, had been reported missing by her foster family and was found in a hotel with a known trafficker, according to an FBI news release.The operation in Colorado recovered eight juveniles and 19 adults from sex trafficking, according to a release on a recent nationwide effort, Operation Cross Country.More than 40 agencies and organizations in Colorado participated in the recent coordinated nationwide enforcement effort.
