BOSTON (AP) — Gunfire wounded at least seven people near a parade of Boston’s annual Caribbean festival on Saturday but was not related to the event, police said. Two suspects were arrested and multiple weapons were recovered in Dorchester, Police Commissioner Michael Cox told reporters. He said the victims were taken to local hospitals and their wounds were not life-threatening.The shootings happened on the outskirts of the J’ouvert Parade, Cox said, with officers halting the parade because of the large crime scene and to gather evidence. “This morning’s shooting is not related to the parade that occurred,” Cox said. Police believe the shooting might have erupted during an altercation between two groups shortly before 7:45 a.m., and are asking for the public’s help with tips or video.“As a result of officers responding very quickly to the scene they were able to run towards not only the gunfire but actually to apply tourniquets and help all the victims of the gunshots and also...‘All about emotions’ as some evacuees return home, West Kelowna fire chief says

The fire chief of West Kelowna, B.C., says it’s “all about emotions” as his community begins to process the devastation wrought by a fast-moving wildfire nine days ago.Jason Brolund says he and his crews are “gutted by the losses” of more than 180 homes in communities on the shores of Okanagan Lake. But he says they’re starting to breathe “a collective sigh, although very cautiously,” given the hot, sunny weather in the forecast for the province’s southern Interior.Brolund says community support has been like “fuel” for his crews, from children stopping by with encouraging signs to the meals being prepared for firefighters. He says about 900 people from West Kelowna were allowed to return home yesterday as evacuation orders in the Central Okanagan were rescinded.Orders are also being lifted for some in the District of Lake Country and on Westbank First Nation lands, though active firefighting continues in the region.The...Shooting at Oklahoma high school football game leaves 1 teen dead, police confirm

SAN FRANCISCO — Another Giants top prospect will get to show off his stuff in front of the home crowd.Kyle Harrison will make his Oracle Park debut on Monday against the Cincinnati Reds, manager Gabe Kapler said on Saturday. It’ll be the Giants’ top pitching prospect’s second big league start coming off a tricky debut in hostile Philadelphia.Oddly, the 22-year-old left-handed pitcher gave up a majority of the five hits he allowed to the Phillies’ left-handed hitters — including a home run from former MVP Bryce Harper. He gave up two runs and struck out five in 3 1/3 innings primarily with a strong four-seam fastball up in the zone. With the off day Thursday, Harrison could have made his home debut on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball in the series finale against the Atlanta Braves. His dominance against Philadelphia’s right-handed hitters aside, the Giants saw it best to keep Harrison away from Atlanta’s lineup that holds a league-lead...Marseille struggles to beat Brest in French league

PARIS (AP) — Marseille moved level on points with Monaco at the top of the French league after laboring to a 2-0 home win against Brest on Saturday. The host started well and quickly broke the deadlock from a free kick that Chancel Mbemba headed home from close range at the far post.
