Observations and other notes of interest from Wednesday night’s 101-92 loss to the New York Knicks:– It took foul trouble by Max Strus to deliver a glimmer of hope for the Heat.– Or perhaps it was trending this way, anyway, with Duncan Robinson getting minutes at the start of the fourth quarter Tuesday night in Toronto.– But for a team looking for a spark, Strus’ three quick fouls left Heat coach Erik Spoelstra with limited options.– Enter Robinson.– Who proceeded to make his first four 3-point attempts.– Yes, working Robinson’s defense into a mix that already includes Kevin Love and Tyler Herro could be precarious.– But 3-point shooting matters.– And Robinson certainly has a history in that regard.– With the pull of his gravity again evident in this one.– Sometimes all it takes is a moment.– Robinson got his moment Wednesday night.– And seized it.– Playing as the Heat’s first reser...Another lost night for Heat, with 101-92 loss in New York further hampering seeding hopes

The New York Knicks couldn’t make a free throw, lost their All-Star in the first half, and were way too careless with the ball. And the Miami Heat couldn’t seize the moment.Story of the season, it seems. The result was the Heat’s fourth loss in their last six games, a 101-92 defeat Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden that moves them closer to a play-in postseason reality, perhaps now left to scramble for seeding even in that second-tier neighborhood. The game took a turn when, with 2:38 left in the second quarter and the game tied, when Knicks forward Julius Randle took a hard foul from Heat center Bam Adebayo and wound up with an ankle sprain that would end his night after he shot his free throws. Randle closed 1 of 5 from the field, with three points and five rebounds. He was replaced at the start of the second half by Obi Toppin. No matter, just as the Knicks 12-of-23 foul shooting didn’t matter, nor their 16 turnovers.Gabe Vincent led the Heat with 21 po...Two staff members of Nathan Fletcher resign, his camp official says

PARK CITY, Utah (AP) — Gwyneth Paltrow’s attorneys came close to wrapping up their case on Wednesday by relying on more experts to mount their defense on the seventh day of trial over her 2016 ski collision with a 76-year-old retired optometrist.Paltrow’s defense team called to the stand a radiologist, a neurologist, a neuropsychologist and a forensic psychologist, leaning on medical analysis rather than the testimony of the actor-turned-lifestyle influencer’s friends or husband in order to make their case. In the final hour of their last full day to call witnesses though, they called Terry Sanderson, the man suing Paltrow, back to the witness stand. The eight-person jury is expected to get the case Thursday to deliberate after closing arguments. More than just a display of their financial investment in the case, Paltrow’s team allotting most of their time to expert testimony is a gamble.
