The U.S. Border Patrol is holding migrants in an outdoor pen in a deadly stretch of the Arizona desert amid a record-setting heatwave, photos taken by The Intercept reveal. On Thursday afternoon, The Intercept observed roughly 50 migrants confined in a chain-link pen at the Ajo Border Patrol station, a highly remote outpost two hours west of Tucson. From a ridge overlooking the Border Patrol’s facility, the migrants could be seen gathered under a carport-like structure, crowding themselves into a single, narrow strip of shade to escape the desert sun. The only furniture available was a short stack of metal bleachers baking in the extreme heat.Just one day earlier, Tucson set a new record with 11 consecutive days of temperatures exceeding 111 degrees. The unincorporated community of Ajo and surrounding areas have been even hotter, with Thursday’s high hitting 114 degrees.Customs and Border Protection, the agency that oversees the Border Patrol, did not respond to questions concerning ...Ex-NBA All-Star Kemba Walker is chasing his next chance. A park visitor called 911 from a cellphone and rangers attempted to save him but were not able to do so, the newspaper reported.“He went having accomplished something he wanted to do,” said Rima Evans Curry, his wife. “He wanted to go to Death Valley. NEW YORK (AP) — The clock is ticking. As the deadline to reach a new contract nears, a potential UPS strike feels closer than ever.Negotiations broke down earlier this month and unionized workers have been holding rallies and practice pickets across the country. The Teamsters, which represent more than half of the company’s workforce, will resume talks with UPS on Tuesday. That leaves less than a week to come to an agreement before the current contract expires on Monday, July 31. The union has authorized a strike and Sean M. O’Brien, a fiery leader elected last year to lead the union, has vowed to do so if their demands aren’t met. “We’re sending a message… all 340,000 of our members are united and ready to fight,” O’Brien told The Associated Press at a practice picket Friday in Atlanta, where UPS is based. UPS’s unionized workers still seethe about a contract they feel was forced on them in 2018, and say that the company delivers millions more packages...New plans for Bellevue house tabled in Parliament

An historic Canadian property in Kingston is expected to see some strategic changes after a new ten year Management Plan was tabled in Parliament on Wednesday. The Bellevue House, the former home of Canada’s first Prime Minister Sir John A. Macdonald for parts of the 1940s, has a new proposed management plan that seeks to adopt an “evolving understanding” of Sir John. A’s legacy alongside the site’s restoration, and to increase the involvement of the site in community events. Acting Superintendent for National Historic Sites in Eastern and Central Ontario Valerie Martin says Bellevue House formerly had a significant focus on the achievements of Canada’s first Prime Minister, while the new management plan seeks to explore different perspectives on Macdonald’s complex legacy and paint a more complete picture.“The former management plan really spoke to raising awareness about the achievements of Sir John. A Macdonald,” Martin said. ...Police arrest 4 carjacking suspects in SW Miami-Dade
