WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. officials on Monday approved the first long-acting drug to protect babies and toddlers against a respiratory virus that sends tens of thousands of American children to the hospital each year.RSV is a cold-like nuisance for most healthy people, but it can be life-threatening in the very young and the elderly.The Food and Drug Administration approved the injection for infants and children up to 2 years old who face increased risk of severe RSV.“Today’s approval addresses the great need for products to help reduce the impact of RSV disease on children, families and the health care system” said FDA's Dr. John Farley in a statement.Last year, a surge in RSV cases flooded U.S. hospitals with wheezing children. AUSTIN (KXAN) — This week marks the start of construction ahead of a year-long pilot project on Barton Springs Road that will reduce traffic to one lane in each direction in an effort to improve safety there.The part of the road that will change is between South Lamar Boulevard and Stratford Drive. TAYLOR, Texas (KXAN) – The City of Taylor said the runway at the Taylor Municipal Airport reopened after a single-engine airplane caused a brief closure Sunday night.The airplane landed with the gear up on the runway, the city said. According to a city release, officials said the plane landed at 5 p.m. Sunday. The city said no one was hurt. The plane was reported disabled on the runway, and the Taylor Fire Department was on the scene, according to the city announcement. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Schenectady man has been arrested following a grand larceny investigation, according to state police. Edward Richardson, 40, is facing multiple charges. ST. CHARLES, Mo. - First responders were called to a residence in St. Charles late Monday morning for a reported home explosion.According to Deputy Chief Steve Brown, St. Charles Fire Department, the incident occurred in the 500 block of Transit Street.Five people were taken from the single-family home and transported to a local hospital, some of whom suffered severe burns.Brown said the fire at the home was extinguished.This is a breaking news story. ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A Des Peres man is accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend's home and attacking his former partner. According to a report filed by the Ferguson Police Department, the incident happened on June 28 at a residence in the 300 block of St. Louis Avenue.Police claim Marquise Lewis, 30, drove to the home to confront his ex. When no one answered the door, Lewis kicked the door down and entered the residence. ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A Hazelwood man is accused of selling drugs from a home where children were present.According to a report filed by the Florissant Police Department, officers obtained a warrant to search a home on Tanner Drive in Dellwood. Police executed that search warrant on June 27 after observing a man selling drugs from the residence. That man was identified as Michael Adams Jr.During the search, police discovered a firearm hidden beneath a pile of clothing, as well as several controlled substances. Adams, a convicted felon, is not allowed to own or possess a firearm. A person in Parachute Colorado has won $1 million in Colorado’s PowerBall state-run lottery, on a ticket purchased at the Thunder River Market – the second time this month that a person has won $1 million.On July 8, somebody southeast of metro Denver in Elizabeth won $1 million from a ticket purchased at Murphy Express, a gas station.Neither of the prizes has been claimed, PowerBall spokeswoman Meghan Dougherty said Monday morning.
