BALLWIN, Mo. – Ballwin police are warning residents of a scam, where someone posing as a special agent is calling people from a number that appears as “Ballwin PD.”Officer Mark Reckert, a spokesman for the Ballwin Police Department, said they were first notified of the scam Thursday morning. A concerned resident called police because of a suspicious call."... ST. LOUIS - A man was shot Wednesday evening in St. Louis while he tried tried to retrieve his girlfriend's stolen backpack from three suspects. The shooting happened around 9 p.m. Wednesday in the 2300 block of Locust Street. The man's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Revisting Mike Shildt’s comments on his Cardinals departure Police say a 41-year-old man and his girlfriend were leaving his home when they noticed three suspects rummaging through a bag. They quickly determined it was his girlfriend's backpack, one that contained an Apple laptop and other items. As the man tried to confront the suspects, they started running away with the backpack. The man entered his car and followed the suspects to the 2200 block of Washington Avenue. Once there, he got out of the car and one of the suspects started shooting at him. A man identified as Abraham Sudberth, 53, was arrested by Fort Morgan Police officers on Tuesday evening at the Fort Morgan train station after assaulting an Amtrak conductor. He was later turned over to the Morgan County Sheriff’s office.Morgan County Sheriff Dave Martin said Sudberth assaulted the train conductor somewhere between Fort Morgan and Wiggins as the train was en route to Nebraska. Martin added Sudberth is facing criminal charges and is being held in the Morgan County Jail on a $3,000 cash surety or property bond. Sudberth, who’s from Mineola, Texas, is facing third-degree assault, disorderly conduct, hindering transportation, and reckless endangerment charges.According to Fort Moran Police Chief Loren Sharp, a call came into the police department at 9:39 p.m. about an incident happening on the train. Sharp said the train was minutes away from the Morgan train station when his department received the call. A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of another man in Apple Valley, authorities said Thursday.The incident was reported around 10:15 p.m. June 1, when San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a hospital about a gunshot victim.The victim had been taken to a trauma center were he was pronounced dead a day later, officials said.An investigation revealed that the victim, identified as 25-year-old Anthony Valva, and a female passenger were stopped a red light at Highway 18 and Central Road when a Dodge Charger drove up and stopped in the lane next to him.Valva got out of the car, apparently to speak to the occupants of the other vehicle about an earlier incident at a nearby liquor store. LIVERMORE — A 21-year-old ex-convict from Fremont has been charged in the robbery and attempted robbery of two women at gunpoint last month at a shopping center here — crimes allegedly done while he was wearing an ankle monitor as a condition of his parole, according to authorities and court records.The suspect, who was paroled from prison in January after serving a brief term for shooting into an inhabited dwelling, was charged June 1 with second-degree robbery, attempted second-degree robbery, assault with a semi-automatic firearm, carrying a concealed firearm and two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm.He has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing June 13. He also faces a parole revocation hearing that day.
