‘We try people in court, not on the internet’: Norfolk DA decries harassment of witnesses in Karen Read murder case Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey is sounding off against the harassment of witnesses in the ongoing, high-profile murder case involving a woman accused of killing her boyfriend, a Boston police officer, last year. In a video statement posted online, Morrisey said of the witnesses, “To have them accused of murder is outrageous. The internet has no punishment for perjury and the internet does not know all the facts.” Prosecutors have said Karen Read ran over her boyfriend, John O’Keefe, with her SUV in January, 2022 after a night of drinking. Read, prosecutors said, then left the scene. She maintains her innocence and says he was attacked by a...

Now given that the facts seem to be crystal clear that Trump was involved to some extent in the insurrection that took place on January 6th, the sole remaining question is whether American jurists who swear an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution upon their entry to the bench, wil...

Alabama seeks nation’s 1st execution by nitrogen hypoxia MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Alabama is seeking to become the first state to carry out an execution by nitrogen hypoxia. The Alabama attorney general’s office on Friday asked the state Supreme Court to set an execution date for Kenneth Smith using nitrogen hypoxia, a method the state has said for years that it was working to develop.Nitrogen hypoxia is caused by forcing the inmate to breathe only nitrogen, depriving them of oxygen and causing them to pass out and die, according to the theory. Nitrogen makes up 78% of the air inhaled by humans and is harmless when inhaled with oxygen. Critics have likened the untested method to human experimentation.Alabama authorized nitrogen hypoxia in 2018 but the state has not attempted to use it until now to carry out a death sentence. Oklahoma and Mississippi have also authorized nitrogen hypoxia. The court filing did not disclose the details of the how the execution would be carried out.
