Perhaps you've heard of some of these words and phrases.Now, some of the responses we received were definitely Midwestern. That is fair because Missouri is a part of the Midwest, and not the South. There isn't much debate about that. So, you'll definitely hear people say, ope, yep, soda, you's guys, and you betcha.There are some words that you will likely only hear in the St. Louis area. One of those terms is Hoosier. It has a much different definition than the same word used as a point of pride in Indiana. Others include hurr, farty, carn, sharts, and worsh. LOUIS – It’s an annual tradition and one that many families desperately need right now.“For 25 years, the Urban League is proud to put on one of the largest distributions in the St. Louis region,” Michael McMillan, president and CEO of the Urban League Metropolitan St. Louis, said. “Then they get the food, the turkey, the wipes and gloves, and sanitizers and masks. Wolf Carbon withdraws application to build Illinois pipeline Wolf Carbon Solutions LLC on Monday filed a motion with the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) to voluntarily withdraw its Application for Certificate of Authority with predjudice to construct a CO2 pipeline through nine Illinois counties, according to a news release from the Sierra Club. "With predjudice" means they can refile the application later."The withdrawal marks the second time a CO2 pipeline company has wasted citizen and ICC resources by submitting a deficient application; Navigator CO2 Ventures similarly withdrew its application twice for its now canceled project," the news release says.Wolf’s application drew skepticism from gas engineer and ICC staff member Brett Seagle, who just last month recommended denial of the construction permit due in part to public safety concerns. Tree trimmer fatally electrocuted in Cheviot Hills A tree trimmer died after getting electrocuted in Cheviot Hills Tuesday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.The trimmer, only identified as a man about 30 years old, was about 20 or 25 feet up a tree or hedges when responders arrived at the scene in the 10300 block of West Glenbarr Avenue at about 1:20 p.m.The L.A. Department of Water and Power (LADWP) de-energized the power lines and firefighters used a ladder to get to the man, but he was "beyond medical help" and declared dead at the scene, officials said.He "appears to have been electrocuted," according to the initial LAFD alert."Firefighters will conduct a body recovery to bring the patient to ground level," officials said.His name was not immediately released.

Man found stabbed to death in Pomona alley A man died after he was stabbed multiple times in a Pomona alley Tuesday morning.The man, whose identity has not been released, was found in an alleyway in the 700 block of Hawthorne Place at about 7:25 a.m., the Pomona Police Department said in a news release.When officers found the victim, he was "down and suffering from several stab wounds," police said.The Los Angeles County Fire Department declared him dead at the scene.No suspect information has been released, and "the motive for this crime is not yet known," police said.Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police at 909-620-2085.
