Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories are in effect from Thursday evening through Saturday. Accumulating snow will make travel difficult during this time. DENVER (KDVR) -- The City and County of Denver is activating its cold weather shelter plan and opening up warming centers this weekend. The warming shelters will be in the ballroom of New Directions (the former Best Western hotel), 4595 Quebec St., and the Denver Coliseum, 4600 Humboldt St. These spots in Colorado have winter weather advisories in effect Both locations will be open from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Buses will transfer people from St. Francis Center between 6-9:30 p.m. each night.Shelters throughout the city are also expanding their capacity for the cold weather this weekend. DENVER (KDVR) — A Thornton man is thankful to be alive this Thanksgiving after he tried to follow the thieves who stole his truck and ended up getting shot at.In the Pine Lakes Ranch mobile home park in Thornton, a victim, who wants to conceal his identity for his safety, is shocked at how quickly thieves can change everything.“It all happened within seconds, I’m devastated,” the victim said, adding, “For it to happen in broad daylight around 4 o'clock in the afternoon when there's plenty of kids, our families here, a lot of families.”The victim told FOX31 that moments after heading inside for a family gathering last Saturday, two young thieves, spotted on a neighbor’s surveillance cameras, walked around the mobile home park and the area. DENVER (KDVR) -- A woman was identified in a shooting that occurred at about 9 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the Denver Police Department.In a post to X, formerly Twitter, DPD said it was investigating a shooting in the 700 block of South Kearney Street, part of the Washington Virginia Vale neighborhood. NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — The FBI has ended its investigation of a fiery car wreck that killed two people at a border checkpoint in Niagara Falls after finding no evidence that it was a terror attack, easing a period of high tensions as Americans headed into the Thanksgiving holiday.The FBI’s decision late Wednesday came several hours after the vehicle raced through an intersection, hit a median and was launched through the air before slamming into a line of booths and exploding at the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls.
