With a state championship slowing slipping out of his team’s grasp, Taison Chatman delivered in the clutch. The senior made four free throws in the final 16.7 seconds and forced a bad game-tying shot by an opponent as Totino-Grace narrowly avoided a catastrophic collapse and beat DeLaSalle 50-46 in the Class 3A boys’ basketball championship game.“Very seldom in this tournament do you see teams win not on the shoulders of seniors and tonight was no exception,” said coach Nick Carroll. It’s the second straight title for the 24-8 Eagles. Last year, Totino-Grace used a game-ending 14-3 run to beat DeLaSalle 50-44 for the title.“That’s what we prepared for the whole season. It’s hard enough to get one, but we went back to back. It brings us a lot of excitement, as you can tell,” said center Patrick Bath, who said he lost much of his voice celebrating in the locker room.Chatman finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds. The Eagles went the final 7:27 without a basket, scoring seven points. Jackson McAndrew scored five of his game-high 25 points in overtime, and Wayzata beat Park Center 75-71 Saturday night for the Class 4A boys basketball championship. The Trojans got a little revenge, too. It’s the second title in three years for Wayzata, which fell 58-53 to Park Center last year.McAndrew is 6-foot-9 and listed as a guard, and justifiably so. Not afraid to battle inside — he had nine rebounds — the junior can handle the ball with ease and is quick on his first step. He showcased those with a drive off the left wing for an easy basket for a 71-68 lead.A 3-pointer from Jackson Fowlkes tied the game — and were the final Pirates’ points — but McAndrew’s 3-point shot from the right wing found nothing but net 11 seconds later for a 74-71 lead midway through the extra four minutes.Hayden Tibbets had 18 points and Jake Schmitt 13 for the Trojans (27-4).The end of regulation was nearly déjà vu for Wayzata.Out of a timeout with 1:24 remaining, the Trojans played for a final shot...High five! Age is just a number like Jeff Green is just a basketball player. When the 36-year-old launched himself into thin air on Saturday, soaring over and above Giannis Antetokounmpo for a gravity-defying jam, there was no telling what city he’d land in.“Oh, man,” Nuggets coach Michael Malone said. “That was impressive.”On the strength of Green’s hops, Nikola Jokic’s brilliance, Jamal Murray’s marksmanship, and a tenacious defensive effort that stymied Antetokounmpo in the second half, the Nuggets throttled the Bucks, 129-106, on Saturday evening. For a team stuck in neutral, eagerly awaiting the start of the postseason yet with a few meaningful games still left, it was an emphatic statement of how dangerous the Nuggets can be when they commit defensively. Milwaukee scored 40 points in the second half, and the Nuggets outrebounded their opponent, 48-40.“That is big-time defense against a very good offensive team,” Malone said.Jokic powered the victory with 31 po...DIA CEO Phil Washington, Biden’s pick to lead FAA, withdraws amid shaky Senate support
