The long-awaited clearing in the industry’s stormiest season in decades comes as a deal was reached late Wednesday to end what was, at nearly four months, the longest strike ever for film and television actors. The three-year contract must be approved by the board of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and its members in the coming days. But union leadership declared that the strike will end at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, putting all of the parts of production back into action for the first time since spring.Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, SAG-AFTRA’s executive director and chief negotiator, said the gains made in the deal justified the struggle.“It’s an agreement that our members can be proud of. An industrial robot crushed a worker to death at a vegetable packing plant in South Korea SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — An industrial robot crushed a worker to death at a vegetable packaging plant in South Korea, police said Thursday, as they investigate whether the machine was unsafe or had potential defects.According to police officials in the southern county of Goseong, the man died of head and chest injuries Tuesday after he was grabbed and pressed against a conveyor belt by the machine’s robotic arms. Police did not release his name but said the man was an employee of a company that installs industrial robots and was sent to the plant to examine whether the machine was working properly. The machine was one of two pick-and-place robots used at the facility that packages bell peppers and other vegetables exported to other Asian countries, police said. Such machines are common in South Korea’s agricultural communities.“It wasn’t an advanced, artificial intelligence-powered robot, but a machine that simply picks up boxes and puts them on pallets,” said Kang Jin-gi, who...

Wolves blow out shorthanded Pelicans in complete performance The Timberwolves displayed a mark of a good team Wednesday at Target Center: They blew out a team they should blow out.Facing a Pelicans team down three starters and six rotational pieces in total, Minnesota dominated every facet of the game from start to winning, cruising to a 122-101 victory. It was the polar opposite performance of what Minnesota did a season ago, when they often lost games against cellar-dwellers and undermanned squads.“This year, we really wanted to, regardless of who we play, who’s hurt, we know that our biggest opponent is ourselves. I’m really proud of the way we came out,” Rudy Gobert said. “Regardless of who’s on the court, it’s still the NBA. Guys are talented. When (Brandon) Ingram plays, (Jonas) Valanciunas plays, it’s still a very good team, very good organization. I’m really proud of the focus that we’ve had, especially, on the defensive end.”Minnesota’s offense was rolling, as the...

Curry threw in a 34-foot, running 3-pointer to pull the Warriors to within two, at 107-105 with 18.1 seconds left.Still, Denver looked to be in command until an exhausted Nikola Jokic missed two ...
