AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Chilly, light rain showers now appear more likely at times on Wednesday. The main rain event of the week comes Friday when periods of heavier rain are likely.Clouds have increased ahead of a powerful, strengthening storm system diving southward toward Texas from the Rockies. As clouds lower and the atmosphere moistens, light rain showers develop before sunrise Wednesday with periods of light rain likely through early afternoon. AUSTIN (KXAN) – The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced on Tuesday it approved a 20-year agreement with the Lower Colorado River Authority to conserve "four freshwater mussel species in the lower Colorado River basin of Texas."Those conservation measures were put in place for the Texas pimpleback, Texas fawnsfoot, Texas fatmucket and Balcones spike, per a news release.Back in June, the agency put together a proposal with the LCRA to protect freshwater mussels in Texas’ lower Colorado River basin. The proposal, called the Candidate Conservation Agreement with Assurances, is an agreement between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and landowners to help conserve habitats for at-risk species, the release states. The City of Amsterdam will be installing cameras at two of its parks with advanced AI technology to help people feel safe. Two Passengers Pronounced Dead after Semi-Truck Crash near Farm-to-Market 39LEON COUNTY, TX (December 12, 2023) – Lane Wireman and Seth Brown died Monday morning in a tractor-trailer crash on U.S. 79 near Farm-Market 39.The incident occurred at approximately 6:00 p.m., on November 27th.Investigators report that the driver of a 2016 Ford Transit van failed to yield the right-of-way when entering the intersection, resulting in a collision with a southbound tractor-trailer.The impact of the crash caused multiple occupants inside the van to be ejected onto the road, leading to life-threatening injuries.Due to the severity of their conditions, 24-year-old Wireman and 25-year-old Brown were pronounced dead at the scene by medics.
